USE CASE

Open IFC files in your browser, free

Bimly is an online IFC viewer. Upload any .ifc and get instant 3D, properties, sectioning, and shareable links — with no install. Sign up in under a minute, all features are free during the open beta.

Click any element to inspect its properties and quantities

Open Revit, ArchiCAD, or Tekla IFC exports directly

IFC is the most-shared format between architects, contractors, and clients. Bimly opens IFC2x3 and IFC4 natively, structures the model by Storey, and renders it in 3D within seconds.

Parsing happens with web-ifc (WASM, MPL 2.0) so everything stays in your browser. Original IFC files are retained for 90 days and can be re-exported any time.

First render in seconds. The worker pre-bakes glTF chunks per storey, so subsequent loads skip client-side triangulation entirely.

Every feature you need from an IFC viewer, free

From internal review to client demos to sub-contractor handoff

Slice the model by storey, kind, or section

Even on multi-thousand-element models, show only what matters

Plan view per storey — grids and dimensions included

3D, plan, and section views all in one viewer

Adjust the horizontal section plane via slider or numeric input. Storey snapping makes it easy to flip between every floor's reflected ceiling plan and floor plan.

Plan view includes axis grids, dimension lines, and snap targets (endpoints, grids, 500 mm baseline). Make small edits during a meeting and they reflect in 3D immediately.

More capabilities

Bimly does more than just one thing

Not just a viewer. Author, review, validate, and share architectural BIM — entirely in the browser.

Common questions

Using Bimly as a free IFC viewer

Which IFC versions are supported?
IFC2x3 (Coordination View 2.0) and IFC4 (Reference View) are fully supported. IFC4.3 has beta support — Storeys and standard building elements load, but civil-domain entities are not yet covered.
What's the maximum file size?
Free plan: 200 MB per file. The viewer is optimised for models in the 100k-element class via BVH raycast acceleration, bbox LOD swaps, and pre-generated glTF chunks.
Does Bimly integrate with Revit, ArchiCAD, or Tekla?
Bimly uses IFC as the primary exchange format. From your CAD tool, choose File → Export → IFC and upload the resulting .ifc to Bimly. Bimly can also export back to IFC4.3 STEP for round-trip workflows.
Do I need to install plugins or apps?
No. Any modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox) works. WebGL2-capable GPUs are supported, including Chromebooks and iPads.
Does it work offline?
Currently cloud-only. Uploaded IFC files and viewer rendering happen server-side. On-prem and PWA offline support are on the long-term roadmap.
Is it really free? What's the catch?
During open beta everything is free with no feature gating. After GA we plan a Free / Pro split, but the Free tier will keep IFC upload and 3D viewing permanently available.
